چکیده

The present study was conducted on two species of cyprinid fish: Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) and grass (Ctenopharyngodon idella). includes the effect increasing salinity survival rate, oxygen consumption, glucose total protein levels in blood plasma, energy usage, food consumption growth rate. carp show more resistance to with 90% rate 15 g/l salinity. While did not survive than 5 g/L. Increasing accompanied decreasing glucose, usage. Food intake also decrease which results for both fish species. This showed that salt stress negatively affect intake, usage

Induction of triploidy in grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella Valenciennes, 1844: Comparison of cold & heat shocks

Triploidy in grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella Valenciennes, 1844, was induced on fertilized eggs to compare cold and heat shocks. Two simplified methods explained for verification of triploidy in grass carp. The cold shock (7 ?C) was given in three treatments for 30 min starting 2.0, 2.5 and 4.0 min after fertilization. In cold shock, the start point (2.0 min after fertilization) showed th...

Evaluation of the toxic effect of peracetic acid on grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) juveniles.

OBJECTIVES The aim of present study was to evaluate the effect of peracetic acid (PAA) on haematotological and biochemical indices, antioxidant status, micronucleus induction and histopathological alterations of liver and gill in grass carp. METHODS Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) juveniles were exposed to therapeutic concentrations (1, and 3 mg x l(-1)) of PAA for a period of 10 days. S...

Common Carp, Cyprinus carpio

The common carp (Cyprinus carpio) belongs to the family Cyprinidae. In nature, carp live in the middle or lower reaches of a river with slow currents, or in marshes. Their habitats are usually weedy areas with a muddy bottom. Carp fry feed on zooplankton such as rotifers and copepods, but as they grow up they become benthic feeders, feeding on animals and other organic material. The cyprinids h...
